I don't understand what the problem is either.....
In fact, I'm fitting a Td5 to my 90".....
Some people just think oh.... electrics must be bad.... but a TD5 set up is quite simple - especially compared to most modern cars.
I never understand why people don't slag EFI V8 equipped Land Rovers... these have virtually the same set up as a Td5 but no body seems to say anything about the fact they're fitted with an ECU.
Why it is people go on about the fact "you can fix an 300Tdi at the side of the road.... bet you couldn't do that with your TD5"... bet I could...
It's still an engine, it still has the same faults at times....
People just get scared for some reason, and believe that a Td5 is some super high tech engine that a home mechanic can't work on.... :?
A major fault is going to stop both engines....
For example, if the ECU on a TD5 for some reason decided to go wrong... then it's not really going to be fixed at the road side....
But then if the injector pump on a 300TDi decided to break up internally.. then again.... it's not going to be fixed at the road side.
Both engines have their good and bad points.
At least a Td5 can't be started from under the bonnet (without the keys in the ignition) by two lengths of wire - which you can do with any other Land Rover diesel engine (late 300Tdi's are slightly different)
