If i could get the thing as far up the country as north derbyshire I'd be happy. My boss' 90 wont make it much further than that, plus it drinks more fuel than my missus.

If it was smaller i might have been able to help.
A roof rack is quite a large item to *sneak* into the back of a trailer when no ones looking and i'm not driving it + you'll need it collecting from Glocs.
The biggest problem is i dont drive the Night trunk up north.
If it was in my hand (as such) i can move things from Heathrow via Warrington to Coatbridge.
Sorry i cant help.
Good luck.
 :)

:D Thanks anyway Jake, have you any idea how much a courier company would charge? I suppose it would be quite a substantial amount? I'll PM whitewolf to find out the estimated weight and the dimensions, then get intouch with DHL etc on monday to get an estimate.

Definetly not gonna be cheap. But, it'll be cheaper than you going to get it and back.

Borders, i dont think you will have much luck that way. I nearly had a fit trying to get 5 tyres from Shropshire. The roofrack + tent etc will weigh around 90 - 110 kgs at a guess. Thats a lot to shift.
Try small independant couriers as the big guys dont want the trouble. They will probably insist its in a box!!

As someone that works in the parcel industry (but on the IT side), pack it to survive a 2m drop onto croncrete. And most independents, will insist on all metal been covered up. (No sharpe dges for H&S) And Anything over 50kg per box and it needs to go on a pallet. 50kg is a 2 man light according to H&S.

:D Guess the hire a van is the most sensible option, at least i know it wont get damaged.
Many thanks to disco steve for the offer, much appreciated. The kit is coming from Gloucester to N/E. But still damn decent of you to offer. :D

Drum youve just reminded me, the man and van I hired to help with the relocation from the midlands to this job asked me to let him know when the works here were finished, so he could stay in a scottish georgian manor house for a week as a prezzie for his wife. I'll give him a ring if I can find his card. :D  :D  He actually works for a reasonable size company, but uses the van for foreigners at weekends. CHEERS
