Powys 4x4 Response Group - Help Needed

I have been asked by the Emergency Planning Officer for Powys CC to develop a register of 4x4 owners that would be willing to be on standby during severe weather conditions to assist in transporting care workers on home visits.

Minimum requirements would be a road legal 4x4 with adequate insurance and a basic confidence and competence to use the vehicle in severe snow or flood conditions to transport the care worker to those cases where a daily visit is essential.

The council will provide up to 5 days advance warning for standby so there should be no last minute surprises. A mileage allowance will be paid when the service is used.

Please PM me if you would like to register or require further details.

You don't have to be based in Powys to register - so long as you could potentially be available to provide support when required.

The only thing about a mileage allowance is that you may not do a great deal of mileage but a lot of fuel to get there
