I drove into town today with my family and whilst attempting to park in two city center car parks was met with scenes of disbelief......

Firstly a blinkered driver caused a complete block of traffic because he had seen a space about to be vacated (almost ten minutes later), he was stopped so close to the exiting car that the driver had to carry out a 9 point turn just to escape......

Secondy in another car park (got too angry in the first), a car drove into the car park entrance and stopped.......The driver then got out of the car and walked arround the car park (I am guessing to look for an available space) as rapidly a queue of cars (including my own) were backing up onto the duel carriageway.

Am I getting too sensitive here or is there no such thing as manners in a car park?

The thing was though, when a space was cleared the car second in line sped into the space before the other bloke had time to get back into his and get it..................................A punch-up was very close.

I could'nt help laughing inside (my sadistic side I'm affraid!)

you aint too sensitive mate. we were out shopping just before xmas and decided to stop at a pizza hut restraunt as we were starvin. i pulled into the car park and it was full. so i pulled over to the side with headlights on and engine running to wait for a space while viks took our son william in to get a seat. after 5 mins a couple came to get in their car after a nice meal. so i waited patiantly to get into their space,. the car park is quite a tight one at the best of times . but no sooner had they reversed out of their space this little old lady came around me and attempted to get in to the space. she was blocking them in and blinding herself in my headlights. i thought being xmas i would let it pass......even though i was fumming.
the next thing i see is a couple coming out of the restaurant to get in their car and this little old woman waving to someone in a car at the enterance of the car park ( more family in another car ) that this space was going to be availible. i made sure i blocked it this time though

when i parked in the space the little old lady decided to give me grief for ....get this " stealing her familys space " :shock: :shock:

Had a lully one just before Chrimbo.

I pulled into a parking space where theres just enough room for the Landy to park without encroaching on the double yellows - they're bleeders for that in Southend. Immediatly behind me the pavement protrudes into the road and theres a lamppost there so no chance of me backing up. When I cam back there was a people carrier in front of me, on the yellows, backed right up to the bumper. There was about 8 inches between mine and his. So I put the Landy in low range and created enough room for me to get out.

Seemed fair to me.

I am glad it's not just me, but I am concerned that unreasonable and selfish behaviour is rapidly becoming normal in our "green and pleasant land" (yes we still have no snow), I feel the urge to emigrate growing stronger by the day.

You ought to see some of the numptys we get at the Hospital. :x

We get cars left in 'Blue-Light' Ambulance bays;
"Oh I won't be a minute, I'm just off to........."

Drop-offs & pick-ups are not a problem, but dumping your euro-box there whilst you disappear for an hour is not :x

Sadly our Trust management won't allow the car-parking/security staff to clamp, or move cars. I think they're scared of possible claims for damages - including the rusty dent that's been caused by us, but has mould growing in it :lol:
However all the signs say that we're not liable for damage & we CAN remove it, it's the 'unwritten contract' (same as with wheel-clampers) you've agreed to the conditions by parking there.

We even used to get people parking on the Heli-pad. Now that is the height of stupidity, thankfully since it was moved & fenced/gated off we don't get it.

having been to broxhead with my V8 the other day i still havent washed it :oops: so popped into town to see if any bargains were about and parked in the middle of three empty spaces, town was packed out but when i came back to the disco i still had 2 empty spaces either side :lol:

Picture the scene, roads all gritted, local car park hasnt been.

BMW M3 45 mph in the 30 mph limit, turns into the car park. tries to slow down from 40mph to 5 mph. The wheels lock, he scrapes down the back of at least 10 cars finnally coming to rest against an old mark 3 escort which I might add, next to the M3 is now in better condition.

Apparently, young inexperienced drivers owning BMWs not only think they can dis obey the laws of the road, thay are also now attempting to test the laws of physics. God help us all.

I'll pay a dealer to let me loose on the forecourt with a steam-roller (& let you all come & watch)

BTM i know what you mean about the hospital parking. A few years ago i worked for Worthing hospital in west sussex as car park security and attendant. I actually had one surgeon try and run me down as i wouldnt let him park in an ambulance bay cos he was late to perform an op!

Another one yesterday was trying to shop at me local tesco. Oh what fun, the car park attendant in his wisdom (which i dont think he has much of) decided to set up a contraflow system, it was brilliant, he was sending the cars on a one way system round the worst part to go round! normally there is 2 ways to go once you get into the car park, right and left and so there is plenty of parking, for no reason he had blocked off the right hand turn and sent everyone left. There were no parking spaces left on the left but the whole of the right section was empty, and on top of that it took 30 mins to leave cos of the stupid contraflow!! We looked at it and i swear it would have been much better if he had left well alone!

I had something like that in Reading once. I was legally parked in a bay and some pillock parked right up me harris meaning i couldnt get out. Now i was parked right outside Reading Police Station so i plodded in and explained my predicament. They sent 2 people out, a traffic warden to write the ticket for the parking illegally and a pc to put a note on the vehicle. He witnessed me reverse so i was bumper to bumper and move the vehicle enough so i could manouvre, then he took my details for insurance reasons and then left a note on the other vehicle. I got a letter of apology and my car was taken to a repairer and the rear bumper was repaired and repainted, with no cost to me!
