Well........ my uper tail gate is on its last legs, no scrap yards seem to have any good one so where is the cheepest place to get a new genuine (or good quality) replacement. Are there any extras that you can ask for i.e. tinted glass etc.

Happy new Year

Jonny

I fitted a Ally one, just required a little assembly but nothing a DIY mechanic type can't sort. No more rot... shame I sold the Rangie just after though. Got mine through Beamends, not a million miles from you.

Richards site is here...

HTH...

also some links via my web site to other suppliers.

A bloke called 'Dave' sell them in the comics, around £200 for a kit.

The one I got was very well built. No visible flex. You would actually want a tiny bit of flex though to allow it to stay together over time. I would imagine most of the strength would come from the glass as well similar to modern cars.

Given the choice between a genuine steel and a non gen ally one like the one I had on a Rangie, if I was going to keep a Rangie even if the above were given to me I'd chose the Ally one hands down.

They are also a good selling fetaure to anyone in the know. I just had a drastic change of heart after lots of work on the Rangie and ended up trading it in.

We've had an ally one on ours for about two years now and I've not noticed any flex in it.
It came with good fitting instructions and I think it came from Bearmach, but not sure.
It's also alot lighter than the steel ones and make sure you remember to get a new bottom seal for it, I didn't and I've still not gotten round to replacing it yet.
