Discovery Water Pump
« on: December 31, 2005, 11:40:42 »
Can anyone help.

Yesterday i changed the 'P' gasket on my 300tdi, and the water pump gasket. Fired her up this morning to find water leaking from what i thought was the new water pump gasket. After another strip down it appears as if water is coming from a hole, approx 4-5mm diameter in the casting of the water pump cover, just underneath the main pully shaft.

I take it this now means a new water pump, as the seal inside also appears to have perrished.

Does anyone know where i can get one from as well. Im in the Nottinghamshire area, and all the usual part retailers now appear to be shut until Tuesday.

Yep, Sounds like a new water pump is needed.

I've just been out to the tip and was supprised how many shops were open,
You might be able to get one from somewhere today.

Have a phone round, Good Luck.

Hi Joe

Paul is right - new pump required.
The hole is a 'tell tale' to let you know of seal and shortly to follow, bearing failure.
