Does the Landy know when the bank account is empty???
« on: January 01, 2006, 13:28:37 »
So, we just got all the expense of Xmas out of the way and now the exhaust is blowing on the 110.

I had always said that when it went I would replace it with a stainless steel one but at this time of year I'm a bit short of cash.  Are they worth the extra cash?

I do go off-roading and I know people say that you should not fit a SS exhaust due the risk of damage but I have never known anybody have any exhaust probems on greenlanes.

If I don't buy SS - where would you get a good cheap 110 V8 3.5L exhaust from? Somewhere like Cr-Paddocks; BLRS maybe or should I just give Kwikfit a ring?

Thanks,   David

I just got a standard 300 TDi complete from the downpipe for a 110 (obviously not the same as the V8) however I thought it was good value from Paddocks (£120 inc delivery)  Would have gone for the Stainless option for the lifespan but rising costs on the project have meant certain sacrifices will need to be made.

So, is there nobody out there who can give me a good reason to spend an extra £200 on SS ????

Well...  we had a SS system on our old Series 3 station wagon...  for around 9 years and then we sold the vehicle.

My Dad has a Stainless system on his RRC, and that's been on there around 8 years so far.

So they seem to last OK :-)

I was certainly going to go for the SS but budget restraints mean the extra £200 was a no go right now.  If you have the money I would say go for it............................I hear nothing but good things about them!

They should certainly offer economy as they should last a lot longer (I have heard they last a lifetime........Not sure about that)

In terms of engine performance and economy... I doubt you will notice anything tangible... no matter what might be claimed ;-)

It might sound a bit nicer though... a decent bit of tube can do that :-)
