without clicking the switch the engine gets no fuel so won't start.
But if it won't start, or won't drive they'll tow it...
I had a friend who used a switch to cut off the fuel pump in his escort, he just split the feed wire and ran it to his foglamp switch (no fog lights).
But you have a mechanical fuel lift pump on pre Td5 Diesel Land Rovers (bar RoW spec 300Tdi's)....
but this is pointless...
are people really that desperate to steal land rovers?Tim
I'm sure I've seen a solenoid advertised somewhere that you put in your fuel line (hidden) which is activated by a separate switch... without clicking the switch the engine gets no fuel so won't start.Wouldn't be hard to make one if I have dreamt it!!!
Quote from: "LANDYTIM"are people really that desperate to steal land rovers?TimAfraid so. I've had one taken and I know I'm not the only person on the forum to suffer
a friend of mine had a great anti theft systemhe fixed a HILTI gun under the seat  the unit never went off in anger, but he never felt comfatable driving the car with it installed so he removed it
I have been wondering how best to tackle this, seems Defenders are being nicked in huge numbers nationwide so what do you all do? Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted!

Big 'motorcycle' type chain and lock, fed thru a wheel slot and wrapped around a radius arm.Renders the car immoveable, even if they get the wheel off its still chained to the car.Its easy to coil up and stuff under the seat etc, and you can always concrete a hasp into the floor at home and chain it down. Before anyone discusses the strength of chains etc, Im an ex biker, and Im well aware of a chains weaknesses. Believe me anything is cuttable, but check out the technology on bike security, Its bloody secure, (expensive yes) and will foil all but a thief going hard equipped to steal.
i have no holes in my wheels
Quote i have no holes in my wheels No worries, Ive got a grinder and a big drill
best way I can think of is keep it in your house or will SWMBO object?
