Converting new memory map route files to older versions

Create the route in Memory Map V5 and save as an MMO, also save it as a CSV file.

Send the CSV file to user with a lesser version of Memory Map.

Run Memory Map 2004 (or less) and import the CSV file.

Then Save the route as a MMO file again, this converts it to the older version.

Job done - and we dont have to pay more money to Memory Map  8)  :D

I haven't tried this (as I haven't got v5) but it has been suggested that you can open the old map files with a hex editor and then change the date at the end of the file.

I can't remember the exact details, but I can find where I read this if it of any use to anyone.

BEAR IN MIND THOUGH I HAVEN'T TRIED IT!

Hex editor ...scan to the bottom of the file. Change crown copyrite to clown copyrite and 2004 to 2006. Apparently this works although it is only rumour.

It's cheap as chips and you can make your own maps if you dedicate a little time to it. Given enough of us pooling maps of our regular routes it could become quite a worthwhile effort.

lots of other toys on it to.
