I for one DID And Doing it the Cold Turkey way! Not to Bad So Far? :lol:

I stopped on the second and doing alright too - I'm using patches , just stick one over each eye and you can't find your fags ! :D
At least I've still got my sense of humour
Apart from obvious health (and wealth ) reasons the smoking ban in pubs comes into force in March up here - my choices were to stop smoking or move to England..................

Not New Years Day this year but LittleStar and myself packed up towards the beginning of last year and not touched another since  :D

By the way, if anybody's doing it on the patches I have a couple of boxes going spare

In Scotland, as of 26th March, it'll be an offence to smoke in a public building, including all pubs, clubs etc and some are even trying to include bus shelters and public parks in this!!
Workplaces can't even put up a shelter outside the building for smokers cos, and get this  :? , once errected it'll be classed as a public building!!  

Don't get me wrong here, I'm all for the rights of the non-smoker not to have to be subjected to other peoples smoke but were I work 50% of the workforce will be discriminated agains by the law and made to feel alianated after March 26th.  :(
The arrangements we have now mean that 95% of the workforce are happy.

Gave up quite a few years back and found it easy, but don't get me wrong, there's still moments when I feel like lighting up   Strange how that after pub meal fag is missed. Only wish I could get the wife to pack up, but like a lot of women she has found it hard to stop  

Still, look forward to spending money on a smokey 200tdi rather than B&H  :lol:

I stopped on the spur of the moment one Saturday 2 years ago.
I came home from work on the Friday and decided that I was doing myself no favours and that I would not smoke as from the next day.

So far, so good.

I hate the smell of someone else's smoke :-& , but if I see a cigarette being lit 200yds or more away then I have a small urge.

it will be a year on sunday when myself and swmbo gave up

we went cold turkey only way to do it properly imho

not having a go just my thought

Keep it up Nev, swmbo & me gave up 13yrs ago when my youngest was born with Ahsma (spelling :? ) never looked back since, funny thing is she was never subjected to smoke as a toddler & she absolutley hates it,

Anyway my truck smokes enough for the whole family ,

Well done Nev, I gave up 2yrs ago - its amazing how your taste comes back also your ability to smell things again, seriously my breathing is 200% better -i also gave up the cold turkey way  with the help of POLOs, KEEP IT GOING M8,

Another one on the patches here!  6 days and counting!  I have done the cold tuirkey thing before but I started again a few months later.

I have lost a Father and two wives to the big C and gave up my self (cold turkey) about 7 years ago.
Having said that if everybody in this country gave up tomorrow (I know it won't happen) then where is the 10.7 billion the goverment get in tax every year going to come from?

I've been on the weed for 26 years (I'm 39 .... for now) Ive packed up twice.  Once for 4 years and once for 8 months ... I go back to it 'cos I enjoy it!  Now, when I get the big "C" or emphacemia( not if, when) Just remind me of this post when I am facing the Boss and having to give an account of my life and actions.

I've given up before - normaly for about 6 months at a time but seem to start up again. Usualy if I end up sat in a pub etc and after a couple of pints I'll have a ciggy and then....well you know the rest

I am not allowed to smoke in the house anyway, if its raining I have to stand outside or go in the garage.
I smoke roll ups, and a 2 ounce pack of Old Virgin will last me best part of a month { and I get mine delivered if you catch my drift }and costs about a FIVER.
Mind you, I havent had a drink since new years eve.
Swmbo keeps a pack of baccy hidden for when I try to pack up, after a day or two I start to get very short tempered and rattley and snappy and grumpy and, well you get my drift.   Last time I tried I lasted 3 days before she shoved a fag in me gob shouting SMOKE THAT YOU BASTID AND SHUT UP.

Patches seem to hold cravings at bay - just need to keep finding things to do with my hands !
Only problem I've had so far is I can't bloody sleep - I mean it's Sunday and I've been up since seven - still it's a nice day , think I'll go and lie under me Landrover................................ :lol:
