What size socket do I need to buy for the oil drainage plug? I seem to have all the wrong sizes  :roll:

my Dicovery 1 I use a 30mm.  

By the way, dont let it drain for too long ! something about the oil pump not being able to pull oil up to iteself again once empty.

Cheers, yes forgot to mention it is a discovery 1.

Knew I would get an almost instantaneous response from a MudClub member!

Spent 20 minutes with my head in the Haynes manual Wednesday and found nothing.....................unbeatable value for money this yer MudClub!! :)

Large adjustable fits mine just right! Fill the new oil filter aswell when you fit it...i cant get a socket to my drain plug the exhaust is in the way, great design!

Change it for a Difflock oil drain plug.

It makes life so easy and the oil (from the drain plug anyway) always ends up in the container and not on the drive.

Unless some idiot kicks the container over.... :lol:

Is this still true on a 3.9i Disco, the thing about the oil pump?  I know it was on my '88 3.5EFi Rangie.  You have to change the whole thing really quick, not leave it for half an hour draining as the oil pump loses prime and you have to pack it in Vaseline.

The sump plug on a 200 TDI is 29mm & the 300 is 15mm i think

Disco sump plug is 1-1/8" socket, God & Solihull only knows why
