TD5 Gearbox & Clutch
« on: January 08, 2006, 22:10:11 »
Have been having a few probs with the Disco which may be related.

1 - when changing up into 5th gear it sometimes feels spongy and unwilling to engage properly, although it still drives fine.  It's been suggested that the selector forks may be on their way out.

2 - first gear is starting to get crunchy, especially when changing down from second when rolling to a halt.  I'm thinking that maybe the clutch is going.

3 - when pulling away in 1st, I have stalled the car 4 times in the past week (having never once done that before).  Now, some of you may say my driving is up the swanny, but I haven't changed my driving style in the past few years (that I know of).

Any thoughts on these before I bite the bullet and get the g/box dropped, checked out and the clutch changed?

Any help, as ever, would be most appreciated.
