The Ramblers Association stifles free speech.

It appears that the RA can't stand a little criticism.
They have closed the useful Rights Of Way Forum on their web site.
Claiming it was because of lack of resources but regular contributors believe it had more to do with open criticism regarding the RA's policies, including it's attitude towards other ROW users.
Voices of descent posting on another of their hosted forums are finding their threads quickly locked or even deleted...

More like they are going to distance themselves from the subject until the new laws have been finalised and around for a while.

Old political trick to prevent the press finding "the wrong thing" on their site

A few people have asked for more explanantion regarding the removal of the ROW forum.

The simple answer is lack of **qualified** resources to moderate effectively - there is no other explanation.

The other mods and myself do not have enough time/knowledge to moderate the forum properly.

The RA is a respected national organisation and cannot have random stuff posted all over the show.

Regarding freedom of expression I'd like anyone to show me a similarly large national charity with such open forums.

It is a shame. The forums were constanly being hijacked by anti-walkers and/or swamped by chit-chat. This creates a great deal of work fo rthe mods.

Sorry folks but that is the way it is.

I wish people didn't spoil things for the majority "but hey that is one of the reasons why the RA exists!"

The last line sums it all up really.
Cheers.
