Does anyone know of a cheap winch that does the job off road

Whats your price limit?

Consider a re-con one?  I got a warn 8000i off eblag for £230 with new motor, wire etc.  Works a treat on the back of mine

Just get a cheep one off of ebay, about £250.

By the way where are you? As for the lane in the pic is not to far from me.

hi paul  the lane is close to you i met you at the top of the wayfairer with police and dave rodgers (c.r.a.g) had the disco then but bought the rangie after running into back of dave.

Ah, Dave did tell me of that getting to geather!!  As for the winch, as said before depends on how much you want to spend and on how much you are going to use it. Mine was £265 including p&p from ebay. Dose ok for me but i dont use it a lot, if i was going to use one every time I went out then I would have got a better one. I hope this helps.
