Please Help With Smokey 90Td

Is there anyone who could advise me at all where to turn next my td engine smokes under load its black smoke so its down to fuel i have replaced the air filter checked the tappets and replaced the injectors but still she smokes enough to fail the MOT with a 7.00 smoke test, anyone else had this problem if so how did you go about making it better. Cheers Rick...............At my whits end!!!!!!!!!!!1 :cry:

dout it,if it was the HG it would be white smoke,what does it go like on the road?? have you tried puting an injector cleaner through the system IE in the fuekfilter & run it?

Its not the head gasket not long been done when a short block was fitted, It goes ok on the road up to 60mph and thats it no more, funny enough it uesd to have more power before i replaced the injectors. Not yet tried injector cleaner will try that thanks.

Has the timing pump been altered at all??

And there is nothing to say you dont have a dodgy set of new injectors...

Im not sure if it has been played with at all,and thanks i will have to have the injectors tested,nevr had a diesel before so not to sure where to go from here, i knew i should have stuck too a V8.

I doubt it is an injector problem but you don't say if they are recon injectors or just some second hand ones,i'm not sure about the Land Rover TD but most turbo diesels have a vaccuum device on the injector pump to put more fuel in for when the turbo is working,worth a look.
