I got married 2002 at Liverpool marina! A wonderfull setting!
We got married there because we have a 39 ft yacht. Had the ceremony,day do and night do all in the same room.We got changed at the marina,so saved cash on wedding cars.My wedding dress was only £250 in the sales.Suits were hired x4.Bridesmade dresses from Marks and Sparks,as was the wedding cake.Guests were given small boxes of thorntons chocs,children had sweets.Had 50 at day do and 70 at night do,my hubby played in the band.Photo`s and video was taken by friends.The biggest cost was the wedding invites,as we had them designed.Two rings inlocked,with these words;
A pair of gold rings, formed as clasped hands, were exchanged by Admiral Lord Nelson and Lady Emma Hamilton as tokens of their undying love!
As we are both sailers the wedding was very fitting!
Pick a venue that is special and means something to you both.

Not married myself - nor do I ever think I will be (said in a sort of Riff Raff way) but the best ever wedding I went to was in Las Vegas, yes complete with Elvis performing the ceremony. Maybe though it wasn't the ceremony more the fact it was a Scot marrying a lass from Ireland. The yanks didn't know what hit them! (And yes, we even had the sherrifs dept turn it!)

Hi Pux,
I'm not sure if they do this in wiltshire, but if you phone the salisbury tourist office they will probably have a list of places which hold wedding's and receptions, I know we used to in the Blandford office.
As for us we got married in a church and had the reception in a marquee at my parents farm as for the wedding cars.....all Land rovers of course..
a Series 3 as our wedding car, the bridesmaids in a discovery, and i went to church in a range Rover :o)

Hi Pux, I got married in CUBA bloody fantastic :(biglove): cheaper than getting married here and no in-laws :(contented): Had the first week to get the tan going :(shades): Then the second week was marriage in the hotel gardens/beach and honeymoon :(contented): lovely. Like I said it was cheaper than you may think
...When we came back we had a reception at a local club/bar I used to work the door at (cheap again) free :(biglaugh): food was done by new sister in-law and wifey, DJ was a mate....wouldn't have done it any other way...defiantly worth considering..
then for our first anniversary we went back to Cuba same hotel etc but without the daughter :(bigshock): :(biglove): :(bigshock): If you know what I mean
warning!!!! I now have a 9mth old son :(biglaugh):

Hi,
Turned up at registry office on my Motoguzzi V50 II, with Geoff brought in on the back of his mates BMW, got married, then went for church blessing, then 35 members of family & very close friends had reception at a pizza bar, nite in a hotel, whole lot £300.
clocking up 20 years this year - who says you need to spend a lot?
regards

I suggested a 'simple, quiet wedding'. NO CHANCE! My now mother in law would have none of it!
Bothwell church (SE of Glasgow). 200 or so guests, 199 of whom I didn't know! Big reception at a posh hotel. Piper. Vintage Roller. My best man and I even wore kilts  :D
Sarah had one of her miniature Shetland ponies there too!! Poor little thing was scared half to death...... and he wasn't the only one!
I suspect £20,000 was a conservative estimate  But then, I didn't have to pay for it

1. Remember it's YOUR day, both of you, so don't let friends, family, toothless old aunties, colleagues, bosses etc rail road you into something you don't really want.
2. There's a hell of a waiting list for Gretna Green!
3. Have a FANTASTIC day, and good luck for the future.
