the camel trophy was great
the G4 is aimed at a different market
its aimed at the Chelsea tractor types rather than the mud plugger (clubber) type
Never underestimate the power of a sick mind !!!!

Didnt they hve to change the name from camel due to tobaco advertising ban?

It would be nice to see an event that focuses on the offroading more than the other thinks.

there is less of the vehicle and more of the human effort in the g4

in the CT the vehicle took loads of abuse but it seems the g4 vehicles arent put through the same paces

i remember watching the sabah video ages ago and the competitors had to make a bridge for the vehicles to cross a ravine, make a raft for the cars etc

but i dont see it this time.

While we're talking about this, are there any Camel Trophy DVDs that are worth getting?

errm what about the 98 tierra del fuego?

I think the trophy should still be running. and as it was in the times where the focus was on getting the landies from one place to the the other. Not all this special task malarky. There have their own events. It's known as adventure racing.

One reason i heard for the trophies disbandment was cause the focus was going away from the driving aspect and so to land rover the idea of the hard driving was lost.

:D its changed its format because landrover are selling a lifestyle ..ie outdoor pursuits ect....so hey you get there in style in comfort and in the best vehicle in the world ever produced but most of all you get there..and its this lifestyle market that all 4x4 manufactures are plugging into look at all the sport versions that they do nissan, mitsy, toyota, and then all the yankie trucks they all plug this market one way or another this is landrovers way off showcasing there variouse trucks
