At a steady 50/60ish my 200 will clear 400 if I let it get that low, I know from recent use with the car trailer on the back and an 88 on it I only got around 23 to gallon, but the pulling was great, my mate tows the same trailer with a tranny van he gets a lot better mpg, but crawls up the hills

350 to 400 miles sounds about correct to me for my 200 Tdi. Most of my journeys are to work ect' and are about 5 miles long. On journeys longer, say 15 miles and above I can get a lot better returns to the tank if driven steady.

I always put £25 in...don't know why just a habit i spose. I get about 160 out of it which is just a bit under 30 mpg. Not bad really considering the weight of a disco?

Just had a look in the handbook. Tank capacity is 88.6 litres or 19.5 gallons. It says the light comes on when you've got 9 litres left in the tank. You will be able to calculate mpg if you run from a full tank to when the light comes on from that.

Are looking at a 300 TDI handbook as they have a bigger fuel tank :?: mine publication No SJR 820 EN HB 92 says 81.8 litres (18 gallons) and I can never get more than 70 litres in when it reaches the fuel light with out over filling.

No, it's the plastic covered forecourt data sheet in the front of the handbook. It's a 1989 publication.
Not sure why that's different to yours?

Er....my 4.4 Range Rover can do 400-500 (depends on right foot) to a tank and it only has a 100ish litre tank. Are you guys SURE that you have diesels???

Normally put between £65 and £80 in there....
