well i have just got in.....been at work since 8 am this morning doing the heater motor on the disco. when you have a look at the pics you will see exactly what a nightmare job it was. im nackered. i still have to refit my stereo in the morning.

That looks like the inside of Matt_h disco but yours doesnt have melted plastic air duct over things!  :lol:

Matt pulled the wiring out of his to replace it at which point he decided not to replace the wiring and scrap it. I am sure you have all read the threads!

(heater matrix went Friday 23rd)

Right pain in the neck and it was freezing!!

Hope you remembered to remove the blue mug before you put it all back together, if your cigrette lighter bulbs broken now would be a good time to change it as you've got to take most of that out to do it, needless to say mines broken an i'm living with  :lol:

its not that the heater isnt working anymore

the fact that you feel no hot air means its operating normally! ;)

if its warm it means the engine is on fire :D

Still looking at a way of changing my motor without this much hassle two seperate looms in mine one for the ambulance fittings the other is the main one, I'm thinking if I can get enough clearance I may be able to pull the motor out of the housing, or at least check the resistor in case of that being down, I know they slide out of the unit by the steering column/pedals.

Failing that I will fit another blow source in the intake under the bonnet

we did try mate but to no avail. there is no other way of getting at the thing. beleieve it or not it only takes about 2 or so hours to get the dash out complete, the most time was spent stripping the heater box down, and getting it back together  :wink:

oh yeah i wondered where my mug went. that might be why the dash no longer rattles  :lol:  seriuosly i dont have any rattles anymore

They do say the best way to improve a LR product is to tighten all the bolts up :D

just got a quick question to disco owners .....when you have your heater running on hot do you get hot air coming from the face vents? i am only getting cold out of them no matter what i do.  :(

I get red hot air from the face vents. so much the heater thermostat kicks in and you have to turn the temp knob down abit and wait a few seconds whilst it kicks back in and it has all cooled down. It went like this ever since I changed the water stat.

Turned the temperature knob ? that wont be an early disco then ? the 300 series ones blow warm air (without anything alight) from the face vents, In fact those posh ones can split them so passenger is cold and driver is hot.  You 300 owners have life too easy.

The split heater controls is a bit of a pain but i just generaly set the passenger one to mid way n just adjust the drivers side. who ever thought of it should be shot.

The split controls suit me just fine - my missus is a skinny thing and always cold, and I'm a fat knacker and always hot - this way we can set our own temperatures to suit!  8)

Well Early discos do have some sort of split temperature. As already discussed the facia vents blow out cold even when the demister and footwell vents blow hot.  With the draft from the window and the hole in the floor which is warm when the engine is running, theres loads of different combinations.

And if it gets really cold the glow from the cigarette lighter makes a good handwarmer.
