What do you guys in Devon DO with your 4x4? I don't think that there any pay and play sites are there?

So what do you actually do?

There's a Pay N Play just above Exeter, a small track at the paintball place in Newton Abbot, LOADS of green lanes and byways, the is also a place near Tiverton (not been there yet though)........
There's also a place called Tracks n Trails but not been there either.

I'm sure others will be along with places they've visited too.

Why do you ask??? 8)

As for trax and trails they no longer do the Pay and play side of things. They have decided to focus on the corurate entertainment and the off road driver tuition.

As for off roading as above and i also trial with my local LRC.

Last week i was fortunate to be allowed by a local farmer to play on some land that he has allowed the LRC to RTV on. a few piccies are on my profile.

As for the pay and play i hope to get up there soon, just need my rocksliders sorted.

Jiffyman - curiosity as much as anything. I've never seen and pay & play adverts and looking at OS maps I had the impression there weren't all that many lanes either.

My Mum lives in Seaton East Devon and there wouldn't seem to be much that way. Well I thought that way until I had a seriously good look at teh maps and then I found some short lanes here and there. I have no idea what they'd be like.

I am quietly thinking I might go an dstay for a weekend and so these lanes. I don't normally stop over as bluntly it does my head in but it's 150 miles from home so if I'm taking the 90 it's not a one day trip! OTOH if all the lanes are softies then I could perhaps use teh Disco on road tyres.

As for Tiverton I lived outside it in Nomansland for a few months some 25 years ago and it was lovey. Really nice place, lovely market and lovely feel to it. Still nice but not the same any more.

Was the disco at the last RTV at conner down? as i couldn't do that one as i was out on the moor. but i heard that it did do fairly well.
I might be there at newnham but i have to go up to gaydon and back on the saturday for a committie meeting of the series 2 club. So i might turn up to watch or marshall. Maybe if i get my rock sliders done in time i might Drive mine but i have yet to decided what to do. depends on how knackerd i am after doing a 200 + mile day. Plans might be that i might stay over nite up country but this has yet to be finalised.
If i am there i will come over and say hello.

Yes, Connor Down was first outing for Nigel.
There were a few Discos there and several Rangies.
Will keep eye out for you.

I can enquire into wether or not they can be allowed i cannot see why not, There is already a 88inch Hybrid doing the rounds, so a bob i thought would have gone in the special class. yes there is a few rangies there is three regulars who trail them and there might be another who lives close to newnha, and so turns up to that trial.
Would be great to see more competitors for a trial although 30 odd turnout's are not all that uncommon these days.  :D

When you say LRC you mean ARC affiliated?

I have never managed to get a vehicle into one of their trials in the Midlands. With the series it was parabolics and the RR when bob tailed something about a profile?

I haven't bothered to try with the 90, they're sure to find something to disallow it although I think they'd struggle!

And a solution that was applied was to recreate the silouette using cardboard which fell off the first time the car moved.

If you dumb rules you get dumb ways round it.

mmm after siting down to study the green book.
Unfortunately you cannot compete in a Bob tail due to the change in it's silouette so it would be eligable under the ARC rules.    so that is a huge shame.

Mike as for the series on Para's that should have gone through scrutineering no problem we have a few series on para's who trial regualry.

All I can say is a friend got round the silouette rule using carboard to make it match a full size RR and it passed.

I think the Midland are LR club is particularly anal about non standard parts. I've heard stories odder than parabolic springs being rejected.

Well as for trialing in general i think it is a good laugh and i have only done 3 RTV's! But have been Marshaling for the past 2 years.

I used to trial in a V8 90

Before i used 'Baker' The 109 that is co-owned between me and a mate.

I started off using her in TYRO trials, done on very mild ground so just to get newbies introduced to off-road driving over the ground and through the gates.

Hi all, ya alright glenn, yes i am up at newton st cyres on sunday, but ive taken a step back from running things cos of mark... I didnt realise there were CD LRC people on here, there obviously is some alright people in that club... No offence ment guys but every time i go all i get is grief cos i drive a challenge truck instead of a standard 90, and i dont get much enjoyment from driving inbetween canes, but i know lots of my mates and people do enjoy RTV, i like watching myself, if i could afford it i would do CCV !   But why are so many of the Landrover club so offish with us ?!   Ho hum rant over.. im a nice guy really    If anyone wants any info on pay n plays PM me and ill sort out info for you !

Anyone doing the exmoor challenge this year !   WE are

aye it is ted's motor, Nicely called Bonzo. Yep he should be driving it on the 26th. but he might drive the wifes again as he did at conner down.
I have no idea why some members might be offish at a challenge vehicle. I quite like 'em. After all it is just another branch of motor sport and so should all be supporting each other instead of having a dig at one or another.
As for driving in and out of canes i only do it as i seem to do ok, Three trials down and i'm already finishing mid table in each event so i can't be all that bad. Main reason though is just for the off roading, I own a landy and so i want to use it as such. It is majorly frowned upon going laning and if there is a muddy bit where it could be sticky instead of turning around and going back having a little go and to get through abeit a little muddy.
I need my muddy fix, hence why the other day i went for a play in a local farm as i was allowed the chance to do so. Getting majorly stuck requiring a 3 hour recovery with a tirfor winch.    (note to ones self Don't try to drive CCV sections in a normal landy)
As for the P&P i'm the same Devon Rover as on the LRUKF and again i'm busy on that weekend.    I will get to one but i still need to get my rock sliders on. When i do get a chance to come up Justin and Ben have offerd to convoy up with me so i can find the place!
