Contingencies for broken down vehicle may render the idea unworkable.

 It would also involve traffic

I'm a firm beliver in working for others, that way stress is minimised and you know at the end of the month what your basic pay is.

When you get flush enough to start dabbling in your own business then do it along side your day job till you get up and running.

Something simple with no overheads is really what you need. Window cleaning or  gardening - mate progressed to  landscape gardening  - can start off as just spring clearouts of gardens, cutting grass, hedges etc etc. Put some leaflets out now and in the next 3 months you should be raking it in (pun intended)

Now get yourself some flyers printed out, few hundred copies and bung them through some doors. Thats my 2p worth  :) It's also a good excuse to invest in more Landrovery and Trailers etc.

Go for it. But remeber you need commercial insurance, liability insurance. Extra wear & tear on your veichle fuel etc. You'll need to get a bloody good, up to date GPS system and be ready for deliveries to take a lot longer than you may expect plus contingency plans for when things break.

Take a long hard look before you commit would be my advice.
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.
