sky+ problems
« on: February 13, 2006, 20:59:19 »
ive had this problem for a while now

its mainly playback and recording of certain channels,

ch4 and ch5 are the main culprits with a couple of the music channels giving grief as well

basically it either loses sound and then catches up or loses sound and video freezes then it starts again, or i get slight pixelation in the screen (in addition to the freezing)

the music also stutters of sorts when you browse the tv guide

ive done the full reset 3 times now to no avail

friggin doing my nut in!

Mine does it too
And my multi room box (which is'nt sky+)
I think its an interference thing.
For us, here, its the aeroplanes leaving Heathrow.
My dish points at flight path.

ask for a reduction in your bill or the problem to be solved or you will cancel your agreement with them.

woah there strapping young lad dude!
step away from the phone do not call the rip off enginneer , i have had the same problem from my amstrad box. sky told me that i needed a software update and that my box was faulty. wrong answer.
turn your box off at the wall, press and hold the "back up " button and at the same time turn the box back on, keep holding the back up button,  all the lights on the front of the box should light up, this can take upto 30 seconds, you should then receive a message on screen saying updating software. make sure your phone line is connected otherwise it wont work.
it saved me £64
hope this works i did for me and cured all the gremlins.

ive read about the forced software update but also read it doesnt always fix the issues ive got

it mainly fixes the lag between pressing a key on the remote and the box reacting to it, but its a short term fix

anyway

engineer out thurs cos we're covered :)

Press Service , 4 then 6 should show you if the dish is out of alignment.

Signal strength being the thing you need to look at. Sat should be locked or you would get nowt at all.

I get a good piccy even in the South of France  (Biarritz) with a mini dish strapped to the caravans jocky wheel with 50% signal. Course it doesn't help when French wander in front of it.
