90 pickup load cover - the sollution
« on: February 15, 2006, 22:41:50 »
Been thinking about the various options for the 90 pickup.  Had a look at various products and after seeing the price of soft tops inc sticks etc decided it's just not worth it.

I got thinking abotu a load cover - did a bit of research and they are mega bucks as they are all custom by the looks of things.

I'm gonna build a nice lockable tool box to fit between the wheel humps to secure tools and recovery gear, but I still wanted a cover to help reduce drag, keep water and eyes out.

Anway I've designed a cover and am getting a company to make me a bespole tarpaulin, cost is around £100.  The sides and cab end uses a turn button fixing the back uses eyelets and elastic.  It will attach on the sides of the tub so water will run off and is made from heavy duty stuff used on lorry curtain sides.

Of course I will be addornign it with a nice mud club sticker!

Is anyone interested in having a look or even having one made?  If anyone else is interested we may be able to get discount.

I have seen pictures, & there was even one on that 'Men & Motors'  LRO Show programme last night.
How about, if you can get a cheap one, using a  88 (or 90) roof-panel?

It's fitted & hinged at the front , couple of gas-struts from a scrappers & 'Robert is the sibling of your maternal parent'
Richard A Thackeray
Defender 110Td5 'Heritage Gone, but not forgotten
Jaguar XKR; X88 JLT, also 'gone, but not forgotten'

Yorkshire Born & Bred, and proud of it.
