Dodgy TD5 suspension dropping?

I know I have read something about this before but I cant think where.  My father in law to be was moaning today about his disco.  I think its about a W reg (on a private plate).  Sometimes when he comes out of the house in the morning the back end is right down low.  Arches almost on the tyres.  Front appears to be normal ride height.  After he starts it up, within about 15 seconds its pumps back up and all appears to be well.

Any ideas?  Is it time for an expensive diagnostic?  Anyone know anyone with the kit in merseyside / lancashire willing to do it for less than the dealers?

Is it air-sprung? if so he has a slow leak, don't worry about it yet as long as it stays up whilst driving and for a few hours after swithcnig off.  I think the system will try to keep the car level for as long as it can, checking every 6 hours or something like that.  If he's worried try leaving it in access mode when parking up.

The system will take a few minutes to build up pressure before lifting the car in a mornig, it does one end then the other, not sure which end first though.

The Td5 Discos have SLS (self-levelling suspension), but only on the rear !

Other than them automatically 'levelling' when you add or remove weight from the vehicle, or using the switch on the dash to enter 'off-road' mode, you can't manually alter the height (unless you have the special key fob that lets you drop the ar4e end right down to attach a trailer).

As RRC has said, it looks like an air leak - but its unusual for both bags to leak the same amount at the same time. The 'normal' problems see just one rear corner drooping over time (when the engine is off)

The SLS will activate only when the engine is running, and all doors are closed - you should then hear the compressor fire up (it's under the passenger/left sill big black plastic box).

To test the system (without Testbook etc), sit in the motor with the doors shut. Start the engine, and press the SLS button - the back end should rise, the SLS indicator will flash and it will chime at you, until it's at full 'off-road' height. You can then get out and have a look. Pressing the SLS button again (or driving over 20mph) will cause the SLS to return to standard mode (hopefully level !)

I have exactly the same prob.. its going to see the nice man tomorrow.. he has initialy diagnosed a leaky suspension(over the phone from description) but needs to see to order right bits.. i agre that its weird for both side to 'sit' at the same time so think its somewhere in the pipe work between pump and bags, unless theres a non-return valve in there some where. will write tomorrow and let you know wot he says.

it might be one o the valves in the compressor,or it could be the pipe work from the compressor to the bags or it could also be a pinhole in both of the bags
