Right, am struggling now, have removed the radiator and bonnet from me 200tdi in order to remove the engine to replace the clutch and fork. Now i am lost, i dont know what else to undo. If anyone is here and can offer me some details i would be grateful, cos am in the middle of the job and would like to get it finished soon!

OK, am removing the exhaust manifold now, i have gotten the top 2 bolts off, i am just stuck now as i cant remove the bolt just under the bend. Any ideas??

try dropping the down pipe and leaving the manifold on
make certain you dont leve any wirers or pipes and heater hoses on cos they dont like to be streched

I don't know how to put this but
why in the name of sanity are you removing the engine to replace the clutch
.
Drop the prop shafts off, remove the console inside along with the gear levers and rubber gatter, remove the cross member on the chassis, undo the bell housing and slide the gear box back.
Change the clutch etc and then reasemble.
A days job and no lifting, done it twice one 200 tdi and one V8 petrol.

Well firstly if you had read the other posts on other boards about this you would see i cant work underneath the vehicle. Secondly its clutch and clutch fork that need replacing. Thirdly everyone else before i started had said engine removal was the easiest way to go.

I'd agree with Dan, if you havn't the gear to carry the box then the chances of a nasty accident are far fewer if you lift the engine, even if it's a little more work. Whilst it's out you can also check the sump and rear oil seal for leaks.

Well i have a 1 ton engine crane, its just looking like its going to be a slow process to swap the clutch, i did ask for assistance (see the work party thread) but alas, there was only on volunteer!

Sorry, did not mean to offend, I am a bit abrupt at times.
Fully understand the problem if you are unable to work under the vehicle, that would explane it, I did use a four post 3 ton vehicle lift.

Just do what you can, then stop if you get stressed and come back later, thats how I have to do it now myself, i fould if i tried doing something in a bad mood, i normally regret it the next day
