Im on the verge of making the order for the southdown rear tank gaurd with the removable towing plate. Does anyone have images in their galleries of its mounting points? Just want to make sure Im not going to have any problems on the mpi.

Yep, that's about it Damo, It comes with two extra lugs at the front but these were impossible to attach but I was told they weren't needed anyway, I had one fitted for a while and had no trouble with it, good bit of kit but bloomin' heavy.

I'd go with that, bl**dy heavy.
The front 2 mounts need to be marked on the chassi once the guard is fitted, then remove the guard and drill through.. I'm going to fit a tube in from the outside of the chassis (through an oversized hole) and weld it to the outher chassis. You only need the 3rd pair of mounts for extreme off-road as the guard will rest on the fuel tank crossmemeber under compression, it's when you are using it for recovery you need better attachment.

Just collected one tonight, Ill triple that Bl**min heavy!
Just drooling over it, its awesome in contruction, got the dropplate and the recovery eye with it too.
I like the fact that the recovery eye fits on the side of the tank drops and the towplate fits on the outside so you can keep that recovery eye on all the time.
Hoping for good weather tomorrow to get it on!

:roll: you mean one of these..very strong have a look in my galleries shows using the rear fittings ect and the detachable tow plate ect..these were origanally built for the mod very strong kit i use all southdown under plates on steering and axels all top quality :D

Won it on ebay for 300 notes, never been fitted before would cost including shipping and vat about 350
Have took some photos tonight of it on the lounge floor :) VERY IMPRESSED already with its quality. Just hope there is enough of brightness tomorrow to get my witter towbar off and this on.
Any tricks for marking and drilling the "towbar brace" bolt holes?

Fitting update, Old towbar and its wiring now removed, bumper to come off next and then drop the ARB down to get the guard into place.
Those ARB bolts are currently having a nice bath in WD40 whilst my fingers warm up. :lol:

Coffee break update, ARB is dropped, rear bumper is now off, and guard is now bolted to the two rearmost towbar points, just needs jacking up a little more to be able to mark and drill the towbar bracing holes.
Question for others who have fitted, the bolts have come with 4 washers on each bolt, for the two main towbar on the crossmember Ive put washer top and bottom and two in the middle between the guard and the crossmember, seems to be the way it fits together, is that correct ?
Secondly with the bolt head uppermost and the nuts on the southdown side, have you just cut off the rest of the thread?

As well as the towbar mounting points, it also mounts via lugs on the side near to the rear. They line up with existing chassis mounts.
I didn't use the forward-most mounts as, as been said above, you have to drill through the chassis - in a very awkward place! I was told that they aren't really necessary, but you need to make your own mind up
All I can say is it's been over some pretty rough terrain and hasn't budged an inch :D

All those washers go between the rear mounting point and the chassis, to allow enough space for the Southdown HD bumper which also mounts around the chassis at this point. Once you have it bolted up at the rear then jack it up untill the guard rests on the chasssi crossmember ahead of the tank, then drill the 2 holes and fit M12 bolts, not the original m10 that were there.

I managed to fit the towing sockets onto the back door just between the number plate and spare wheel, it was a bit fiddly but the cabling does just fit inside the rubber flex from the body to the door

Both 12N and a 12S ? I also have my CB antenna going through there as my twig is mountedon the wheel carrier
My idea is to use a 13 pin euro socket under the rear wing covering the cable exit hole, then to use a 13pin euro plug with "flyleads" down to the normal 12N and 12S sockets mounted either side of the towbar. Our caravan doesnt have long N and S leads to reach anywhere else :(
I can also make up a 13pin euro to 12S flylead as I use the 12S socket for all my 12volt toys, like solding iron, lead light, compressor, etc etc because its live feed is taken from my split charged battery.

Cabling for both N and the S through it, pulled a 12 core flex and a single core earth - very tight in the rubber sleeve though, you would probably struggle if you already have additional cabling in there.
I did have the sockets mounted on a T plate fitted to the bumper but it still got knocked about there!
