i have just got my self a rangie it has got new police spec spings and shocks fitted so i was thinking of fitting spring spacers has any one had any probs with these and is it best to junk the self leverler also will there be any probs with the anti roll bars i want to fit 50mm spacers will i have to get longer shocks hope you can help sashbash

I found the Police Spec gave me a 1" lift anyway, then you want to fit 2" of spacers.  Not my choice but there you go.  You should think about; longer Dampers, get Pro-comp as they come any length you want :D .  Fit longer bump stops so you don't get coil-binding or damper bottoming, both of which are BAD.

Castor correction, this starts getting expensive but anything over 2" you are almost guaranteed steering problems

Bin the self-leveller, it's already redundant :roll:

Anti roll bars?  hot debate.  If you keep them then space them out with Ali tow-ball spacers, 2 or 3 inch.  Get the Towsure ones so they have a solid face, most are hollow.  Alternatively bin them and do without (let me have your old ones?)

You MUST tell your insurance company about the whole mods, including anything you remove.

i fitted police springs to the rear and heavy duty disco ones to the front of my rrc lifted it a bit but it was well sagging before still slightly down in the back offside corner though

Sat higher on mine but I had 235/70/16 tyres ! :D

When you say bin the self levelller, do you just unbolt it and remove it on its own, or is there more too it?

not removed self leveller yet thatds next job took it off road last weekend to see what was wrong . need to cut the arches back a bit as they were digging into the tyres which are 31x10.5x15 grizzly claws :D  as for welding no time yet to busy working and playing in the snow :P

Heres mine with a OME 2 inch lift. The tyres are 235.85.16 grizzlys.

The levelr pulls the car back down after a lift, so yes just unbolt it. You may want to cut the 2 top bolts as they wont go past the x-member. You could just put the buts back on. I plugged the holes to stop water.
The ball joint should have a clip or if seized cut just on the shaft.
Leave the A-frame as t locates the axle ! :)

hi bullfrog as my shed is still slightly down after fitting the springs do you think it is possible thet the self-leveller is seized and holding it down?

I would doubt its seized just pulling the old girl back down !
It will do your head in so bin it anyway.
No use on lifted vehicle !
I reckon when you have some cash it needs a 2" block kit , maybe some bent arms ! :D

I had rears all round. I have a Tdi which is a bit heavier than the V8.
This does make for a fairly choppy ride though.  :shock:
If your springs and shocks are ok a 1" block may be a better choice.
Are you lifting it for offroad articulation as police spec springs will lessen this.
They were designed to hold the extra weight in the police classics and improve high speed manouvering. It will lift a bit .
I would also look at shock extenders for the rear as this will offer a little more droop travel. :D
You should be able to get a set of +1" blocks, A set of extenders and a set of extended brake lines for £150. :D
I have a 5" lift and my prop is fine. It is more down to how knackered it was before the lift ! :roll:
You wont need cranked arms for a + 1 or 2" lift.
I would not bother with the castor correction bushes on +2" either as they are a lot of money that still wears. If you do anything fit the cranked arms and standard bushes,as this although costs more is a longer term solution. :D

I intend to use for mild off road only. The police info is good as I would like a little extra articulation.  I use RRC daily as domestic transport, tow a largish caravan and off road once a month also want to keep reasonable standard looking.  The SLU is knackered and pulls the rear end down at the moment so that will be coming off during the lift.  I fitted 1" spring spacers to SWMBOs Vitara and they worked well but for some reason never even thought about it for my RRC. Duu
