Well done for getting a Landy. 1 tip though. Dont change it to diesel. They are SO much louder!!!

I could have sold you a windscreen as I had a spare which I bought at Old sodbury a few years back but I gave it away when I sold my S3 a few months ago!

i am going to change it to diesle because i will be going off road every chance i get  if you saw eveything i do in my 4x4 toyota corolla you`d think i`m mad and i`m supprised it still works  some of these tracks i go on are made for landys and not cars lol..
and a diesle will run in water my petrol wont and cheaper on fuel.

Just lets see who is the maddest leafer me or my chris

i like getting cars airborn but i dont think i will try it in a landy for my safety

not a lot of difference in economy between 2.25 petrols and diesels... but as you say diesels are a little more H2O tolerant.

But the diesels arn't particuarly MOT tolerant, some of the series we used to have at home seemed to lose the oil out of the air filter when it came to MOT day  .

Normal cars off road is not in the least bit mad. Its just darn good fun :D  :D  :D

Mind you, I was brought up on a diet of old MOT failures, set-aside feilds and farm tracks.

2.25 Petrol would get you around 15mpg in town.  The 2.25 Diesel would probably see about 23mpg around town.  On a run, expect 20ish from the petrol, while 27ish from the diesel.

The 2.25 Diesel is very noisey, but a lot is down to little sound proofing in the cab so the sound bounces around.  It is possible to put up with the noise, but it is also recommended to wear some form of ear protection for the very long journies (e.g. 100 mile run), unless you like having ringing ears afterwards.

I totaly disagree with you about the diesel and fuel consumption. If set up right they are very good on fuel and you have no chance with the petrol they just drink fuel for fun......

Instead of a Diesel... How about fitting a V8. Same Economy but so much more powerful, and a Nicer noise.

A noisy engine in a Landy Eh?  Fancy that   <[Edited] :? >

My Uncles Mate has just trashed his series V8, rear wheel drive, mud tyres and a very effective loud pedal don't mix IMHO.

Series Diesels are way more econimical than petrol, my Uncles ran both for years, one has a lpg S3 now but couldn't afford to run it on petrol (God they can sup  ).

The diesel is much more tolerant of water than the petrol, the number of times my dad or I have had to climb out of the door and across the bonnet to the bumper and spray the dizzy is stupid, never had a prob with the diesel (until I empty out the oil bath in the air filter and find a good inch+ of silt in the bottom!! Better get that snorkel hey!!)

A Ford V6 is a popular transplant into a series, nicely weighted and easily as economical, sounds good too :D

All this guff about wading with a diesel, have you seen what happens when they ingest water?
