My sympathy... but look at it this way...  at least that puppy is staying in a home where it is wanted and will be loved.

There are plenty out there that aren't... and they need your affections :-)

Get yourself down to the local RSPCA centre and find your new companion ;-)

Well said Tim,

It does sound like the owner will give the puppy all her love, which has got to be a good thing, and you can give your love to another needy soul.

Hope all goes well

what breed were you looking at

we had a rottie and a st bernard needed rehoming recently (boyf ran off with another woman and all the money they were using to emigrate to oz!)

the kennel club website has a list of recommended breeders (so you know the dog you are getting will be house-trained and well mannered)

be careful with rspca and animal shelter dogs as you have to be aware of the dog's history (ie WHY the dog is in the shelter in the first place)

just some pointers to assist when getting a mutt.

Be equally careful with some of the KC people !!!    Some of the "training" practices leave something to be desired.    A lot of the so-called breeders around are also responsible for a lot of the "surplus" dogs around...  it can be a minefield....

I'd much rather my money went to someone who cared about looking after the animals than just making money from them  :(

...and it did, incidentally...   Katie is from the RSPCA ;-)

I understand and we have owned two rspca dogs already we still have 1 and the other passed away 2 years ago, miss him so much he was a collie cross retreaver sorry cant spell lol.

They were both HARD AND PAINFUL work and we dont know weather we can do it again so that is why we are going for a labrador breeder we want a chunky headed traditional Lab, and it has to be black lol. my mum is very fussy

You could get in touch with the Cinnamon Trust........they foster and re-home dogs of elderly or ill people who are taken into hospital or care homes (or pass away).  One of our customers does alot of fostering for them and the dogs rarely have behavioural problems, which is often a reason dogs end up in rescue centres.

Although saying that our Lurcher was from the dogs home, and we had no history and apart from being a loon he is fab!!

Sorry to hear that, but as has been stated, go to a rescue centre.

Jack came from a farm (as a gangly 9week old)
Sadly, he's not longer with us :(bigcry):  :(bigcry):

Gypsy was from the NCDL, now known as 'Dogs Trust'
Despite her awful past as relayed by the NCDL on adoption, she's a smashing Dog
