Did I Do The Right Thing?
« on: February 28, 2006, 15:20:58 »
I was briefly out this morning up towards Denby Dale, Upper Cumberworth & Penistone, as there looked to be snow up there (sadly not where I was)

I went along a lane (surfaced) I haven't been along for a while, by the Wind Farm at Spicer Hill & thought; "I've practically got this image elsewhere"

And I was wondering about what could have been............................

One day......................

Same place, differant cars

The TVR ground clearance is not that good ;-) And at the rate Land Rover are going there'll be a variant that can match that 0-60 soon ;-)

Got to be the defender.

More practical, more reliable (not many cars you could say that about! )

Just more......everything.

Mind you, you could have got a Jeep! :D

[-X  You can stop thinking like that right now!

You MUST have the Defender, if you really want the TVR sell something else so you can have BOTH - TV, house, Joanne, everthing out of the snug, etc

Went out in a friends TVR a few times, yes they are nice and fast but not much good for owt else.

Judging by this group of muddy good lads you hang around with you definately made the right choice!

Had fast cars and fast motorbikes.  One or two I would like to still own, but they're long gone now and I'm quite happy with the 90 etc..  The 110 is far more practicle for a family man and is the right choice.

Would you really want a British-built car that broke down all the time, was prone to electrical faults, and leaked like a sieve?

Richard,

when your out having the time of your life in the snow this weekend just ask yourself the same question.

Get the TVR when your too old to enjoy the rough and tumble and make sure its a Sagaris

Best wishes,

David

My mate is selling his TVR again, it sits in the garage unused quite a lot and he is dissapointed with it after the Westfield.  Thing is he's just bought an RS2000 which has put a massive grin on his face.  Might have to tax the Capri and get a couple of Bodie and Doyle wigs now

Having been fortunate enough to own a 4.0ltr Chimera and a Griff 500 and now a Defender 90 i can honestly say that the Landie gives me more pleasure. This coupled with the cost of running the them, the landie wins again. I owned my Griff in the late 90's and then a service and a set of tyres at a main dealer ran close to £2000
I would do a run from my home in south Bucks to Wadebridge in Cornwall. Fill up at High Wycombe and with a bit of 'playtime'   with the boy racers on the motorway i would have to fill up again in Bodmin
Nope, the TVR's are great, supercar performance for not a lot of money, but i'll stick with my 300Tdi 90 thanks :D

Had to laugh one time we went to Beglium. On the ferry there was a lot of TVR's. While we were waiting to get off I startup Piglet and that musical V8 note from all 4 tailpipes had them straight over!

Up with the bonnet, lot's of ooohs and ahhhs...and "my god! that's muddy!" - great fun ;-)

We had a good banter then as we left it was nice to have a Landy stared at by the TVR boys ;-) They liked the rumble .....

It's not really a fair comparisson like for like.... for instance the Defender is travelling into a head wind... you really need the wind behind you.
