Does anyone know if there is an actual Yorkshire rose - if there is does anyone know what it's variety is called?

There is a White Rose of York - its name is Rosa alba !

The 'yorkshire rose' is a hybrid between the wild Dog Rose and the sweetly scented Rosa damascena, the Damask Rose,

SWMBO has just phoned whilst on their return journey to tell me that they've bought what are purported to be 'Yorkshire Roses', but it wasn't the time to be asking the species/genus
