well the inj pump went off for a strip and examine...
Bits broken inside - think he said springs and stuff.. rotors worn below tollernaces.. He said it may get away with keeping rotors low but up to me... so I got him to replace them (no idea what a rotor is or does lol!)
Anyway got the bill and almost had a heart attack... Let's put it this way I sold my disco engine for £450 complete with all the bits.... I should have kept it and now I'd have a free engine and some cash in my pocket!
Well it should be fitted this weekend or early next week... A bit drastic to fix a starting problem but I'm told if the rotors had gone then it would have been an entirely new unit for even more pennies.. I'm also told the econmy should now improve from 20mpg and she should go better... so fingers crossed!
Matt (I'm jsut about to remortgage the house H!

[!Expletive Deleted!] me that was exspencive, dnt worrie all Diesel pump refirbs end up being a fortune.
You will notice a big difference when u refit it and take her for a run.
My pump refirb cost something near to yours and when we messed with it a little and spent some time testing her, well you have seen how well she goes and it dosnt use much more fule. 8)
You got to make it black smoke a little when you thrash it thoe

£680 all in :(
when you say you have to make it smoke a little, you really should try that on yours - it smokes a lot when you put your foot down
I'm quite happy to pootle in her, I've a fast car for going fast and a bike for well bikey things! Ok so I would like her to go a bit more but I know I'd use it then only have to spend out on filling the tank more often.
We'll see what happens to economy when shes back - hopefully we'll get closer to 30 this time!

hmmmmmmmm bikes go fast, think id end up 6 foot under on a bike
.
L300 Def is a litte smoky when hammerd but she goes better than chiped td5 motors.
Ive got MOT this week so i will have to be nice to mot man martin when it comes to puting smoke test probe in the exhaust........
We push a sponge up exhaust after the probe and block the gas flows out of the exhaust, this fools the gas monitoring thing they use and i get passed on the smoke test

Ha Ha Ha ....... Thats what i like.
I love it when he allways say to me " Dont tell the police man how we did the smoke test".
Have you got any plans for you next outing?
I got my winch on monday and found it to have a nakerd bush and the roller fairlead to need replacing, Seller said it was in mint condition!!!!
So its costing me more than exspected
but i still cant waite to use it.

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

couldn't find anywhere that sold exchange units. Paddocks told me not to bother buying a 'new' from them, but if I insisted they could get one for around £800+VAT
