As already thought of, Gordon Brown [!expletive deleted!] is using the anti 4x4 bandwagon to sneak in another tax and of course it will include other vehicles like people carriers, sports cars but he is not going to advertise that is he. He is just going to rant and rave about the 4x4's

i don't see how the mot center could dictate what tax you pay.

I should imagine it will be all new cars that will be afected.

They could record your emmissions results which could be used to then calculate your tax band.

They already Do!
The Mot station records your emissions and (Vosa) at the other end of the line state whether it's a pass or fail?

I would imagine that they will probably use the manufactuers declared figures for the engine number.

This will of course make it somewhat hard to apply retroactively since some older vehicles are possibly not recorded in this way, and max out the test stations when connected.  Although, if it's the later they are arguably higher band anyhow.

Be that as it may - it is still their freedom of choice to drive what they like. Remember that :)

It's still the elected governments freedom of choice to tax us what they like too.

And our corresponding freedom to prohibit them from being the "elected" government :)

if they want to do that, they should introduce it through the mot test, any vehicles over the setting, should have to pay an extra amount either with the mot or added on their next tax disc

now where do i tick for no govt? They are all as bad as each other - a little honesty with the whole of society would go a long way, rather than setting up one section against another all the time

an extra £200 or just £30 more than it is already?

I have a feeling my 4.6 Rangie is slightly over 250g!

two solutions to this.

take out my v8 and put in a 1.2litre (should go well, maybe)

or sell my kids!

either way my 4x4 stays :D
