i find some clubs are very bigoted towards any other make of 4x4.

reminds me of the old landrover hating japs period of the late 80's.

all blown over now of course.

i have never cared what other people drive, they are all 4x4's.
suzuki vitara on hilux axles with leaf springs.
35/13.50 mudzilla's
snorkel
twin t cases.
twin ramsey 8000 winches.
procomp e3000 shocks with 14" of travel.
more flex yeah baby
now with V12 power

Charging a tenner to join a forum... How s**t. Better to make membership free and just make stickers and things to pay for...

Basically, if they don't want you then you don't need them.

I 'used' to be on their site! An interesting bunch   . In short they were in the pursuit of 'Best Club' prizes & the such like & the element of fun had left the site. Censorship was common & more often than not unexplained.

It's the site owners train set & I guess he can do with it what he will. For my part....I said my peice & left. I have no time for unnecessary censorship & someone lording over me! Not to mention cliques! I wanna off road & have fun!

So....I joined Darkside4x4 which was founded by like minded people! During the course of my offroading with them I bumped into more like minded people from here! So both club stickers adorn my truck!  :D

In short......I personally would steer well clear of that site, particularly if you enjoy more than greenlaning & shining your truck! They talk the talk....but don't walk the walk! Perhaps I could sum it up by saying that the owner joined this site & has made two posts....both of which were trying to poach your members!

My opinion anyway............  :whothedaddy:

this is what the problem is with most forums, someone had to set it up and normally the person in question has an intense passion for that particular marque/model (otherwise why bother getting a forum up in the first place)

so in essense its their little world and they created it.  you may have posted at a sensitive time when comments about other marques was causing trouble on the l200 forum, there may be a bigger picture but it was an overreaction to boot a post off a first timer though.. a tad harsh without explanation but again it goes back to my first point about their little worlds.. and dare you threaten it!

where mc is different is that it isnt a marque/model club so theoretically the mods couldnt boot you off for being off topic unless it had nothing to do with vehicles at all.

i did like the comment about removing off topics due to search engine issues though.. that one was quite funny (if you charge for a service then i really dont think you can tell the paying pepole what they can and cannot see!)

I"ve tried several other clubs and forums but they all pale into insignificance against Mud Club. I found a certain one beginning with D arrogant and downright rude if you didn't tow the line.

I can back Roofus up 100% there.  As one of the guys who helped set up darkside4x4.com I got banned from the l200.org site.  The owner also banned all the mods on Darkside4x4 but back tracked as his site nearly died.

This site seems pretty cool, a great bunch of guys and gals, just like the Diff Lock people too.  Drumclog, you had a Diff Lock event with loads of Mud Club and Darkside4x4 people there, we all had that same goal, which was fun in the mud with a great bunch of like minded people.  Yer the green oval gang take the P out of the Japs and visa versa, but it's all in fun and at the end of the day we all had fun.

I think L200.org is anal, if you want to listen to people ask the normal "what tyres" "which polish" and attend events like Traks, join.  But if you wanna play in the mud and really WALK THE WALK, then get out in the mud and have fun.  I see the forums as a way to meet like minded people and arrange events, a route to meeting people in the real world, not just talking BIG from behind a screen a keyboard.  Not once has any mod on this site stopped me talking about the Darkside, as we all know we can be members of loads of clubs and forums.

Long live freedom of speech and long live days in the mud.

I shoudnt believe all you read, figures look good and that keeps the manufacturer happy, I used to be a member of l200.org and I was banned, a lame excuse was given but really I believe that it was because we questioned the way the club was run and started up another forum, you are made to believe you are joining a club but all you are doing is subscribing to a website. That was why myself, blueprofile and a couple of others formed Darkside4x4. We all became very fed up with the way l200.org was run and despite trying to discuss it with the owners, they werent interested. Brian the snail is 100% correct in what he says, but it seems to be the same with many single marque forums.
All marque sites like difflock, mudclub and of course darkside4x4 are the way to go, they are about mates with a common hobby and not about kissing up to the manufacturer.

To me that does seem a bit rude.
What happens to those members that decide to buy a different car but have always gotten on well and know lots of other off the forum.. are they expected to leave and never be spoken of?
sensitivity to other brands is fair enough at the end of the day everyone has there preference. brand loyalty works in every sense of the word.

for instance when i brought my pugcc i was recomended by a previous cc owner to join the pugcc owners club. ive posted on there less than half a doezen time in the 18months ive had the car due to well i wouldnt say lack of friendlyness but the whole forum seems to be purly issues with the cars, i tried posting somethin un car related and i never even got a reply. Although i think many of the regular members including the owner now no longer own a cc instead they either have 350z 's or scoobies... somethin much faster than the pug.

im register on many car forums most of which are local to me. i rarely post normaly just log on to take a look round.

if the l200 club want to act like that then thats thier problem, im sure they will lose membership over it, i couldnt even access your link. and it seems from those replys to this already they have lost a substantial amount of memebers, and they can try poching all they want but at the end of the day people are going to go where they feel welcome.
