Is it just me and SWMBO, or is anyone else getting sick of the re-makes?

Latest one is 'The Hills Have Eyes' - just what is wrong with Wes Craven's original?

There's so many - is it just that all the best ideas have been used?

I'm sick of remakes as well.

None are ever as good as the original.


It's just cheap to do. no script to write.lol

I couldn't work out how they'd got the nerve to call it  'The Italian Job' - it had nothing to do withe the original at all (1 character I think??)

Not exactly a remake, but 'The Dukes Of Hazzard' wasn't as good as the TV series

'War Of The Worlds'. The 1953 version was wonderful

'Planet Of The Ape's. Personally I liked Tim Burtons vision of the film.

Not remakes, but not sequels either.
'Batman Forever (Val Kilmer)' & 'Batman & Robin' (George Cloony) were both diabolical
Michael Keaton was good as 'Bats', & the gothic overtones of 'Returns' was better than the first one
But 'Begins'.....................WOW!!!!

I prefer the Charlton Heston planet of the apes.

And the remake of Battlestar Galactica was grrat but then it was n't the same as the old BG in style, old one was camp, glitzy new one serious maybe a bit american soapy.

Jeff wayne was not happy with the hollywood version of war of the worlds so he is doing a correct version based on the book. Set in victoria england and modeling the aleins on the pictures he had done for the album he did. Cant wait to see it. It looks good http://www.eveofthewar.com/jeffwayne

Surely it was HG wells who original wrote War of the Worlds, Jeff Wayne did a musical of this and the artwork was based on the discription wells gave us of his martians. I have not seen the new War of the worlds, it would be better to have a victorian setting and I hope a film evolves based on the original story line.

Yes it was sorry i left that bit out. Yes it is going by the HG wells version so it should be good

My fingers are crossed for a proper Lord of the rings as the book and not rewritten by a screen writer. The films were great. If only they had not missed so much out.

Perhaps so, but they still redefined the word 'epic'
But imagine how long they'd have to be to do them proper justice :D

Wonder if Peter Jackson will do 'The Hobbit'?


I'm also holding out (in vain???) that the dreams of the boss of Marvel Comics has that someone will make a 'Thor' movie come true, but he predicts that a 'LOTR' sized budget will be needed to do 'the big guy' & Asgard proud.

Now thats really Scary? Never heard that a re-make of thjis film was being made! let alone screened! As i read the start of THIS post up came an advert on the Box for the said Film? As i said Scary???? :shock:

war of the worlds was absolute tosh (have to be polite as this is a family forum)
Nice to see that Geoff Waynes redressing the balance though.

Think the only remake I've seen in the last couple of years that was anything like the original was assault on precinct 13.
Loved the original and the remake was good viewing too.

Or the punnisher
the original with dolph lungren was pants (nothing like the comic) but the newer version was much closer to the original marvel story.

With each film doing succesfully at the box office I think the film makers could have easily increased their revenue.

i agree with everything said about remakes but we are in a bit of a limbo area as we are all old enough to remember the originals. the majority of people who watch the new ones cant remember growing up in the 60/70's due to them not being born so its all new to them. a small handful of them know there was life before playstation and can make constructive critasism (and probably better spelling than me).
we on the other hand went out and kicked an actual bag of air around, got muddy, nailed pram wheels to a couple of old planks of wood and rode down huge hills with no brakes and no safety equipment if we fell off.... well when the plaster casts came off we invented brakes for the bogies (or whatever they are called in your area)

me, i like old and new versions they both have thier places in the industry.......





until i watched the pink panther, im sorry steve martin just isnt peter sellars!!!!!!

Dunno about the films, going to see the musical version next month though, sounds interesting
