Nitrous oxide system
« on: March 11, 2006, 12:49:35 »
We are looking into fitting a NOS system to a V8, not for a massive HP increase but to run continually at around 30HP while on difficult section.

Question, does anyone have experience of continual running of NOS

Nitrous tends to beused at very high engine speeds for short bursts as it increases engine temperatures and causes a high shock load on the piston.  If it were used at lower speeds the engine could be damaged.

I have read a few reports of running at lower BHP outputs, all were reasonably favourable and if set correctly has little effect on the engine, just like to find out off someone that has done it.

Bush tucker dude, that’s a S…Load of gas, I presume from the whey it is set up you decant and sell the gas? What we can buy from you in the way of a complete system, we were thinking of building it ourselves, not hard but quicker to buy. To give us a little extra time I wanted a 4 x11lb cylinder system.

yeah thats rite mate :D lovely motor and Bl**y scary

we was at one show and we poped to the petrol station and it was a one way system so he went and got petrol and drove out not rememberin that it was one way and cam out and a huge roundabout heading towards the traffic so he moved up on to the kurb and darted through the bushes down the inbankment across the juel carrageway and drove off   at like 110 was really scary

Ive run NOS on a bike(215 bhp at the crank from 1100cc)
Its easy, simple to fit, start off running way too rich on the fuel side, then decrease the fuel until you get stoichiometric, or maybe a bit rich to be safe.
On a small hit(30bhp is tiny, I had 60 on the bike) its very safe for the engine as long as it doesnt EVER run lean. It can actually lower combustion chamber temperature!!!!!!
It gets used up at a ferocious pace unless you have a really big tank.
Its addictive, and if you vent the system too often in yr garage, it makes you get all giggly(eh Bulli!?!?!)
I say go for it, build plenty of safeties into the system to prevent accidental triggering.
Pm me for any Q's
