I managed to catch on yesterday for a new member who's first post vanished (I know others have done this too).

When the topic wouldn't let me reply, I used the back button to ge the previous screen, and copied as much as I could and started a new thread.

Or, just maybe, the problem with the threads comes about (as has been said many times) when there are a lot of replies at the same time, this is a 'heated' debate, so they are lots of replies - it is a prime candidate to fall foul.

These guys wouldn't waste time replying if they were going to delete the lot would they!

So unless you want them to start using one of the options above, go and suck your dummy elsewhere if all you are going to bring is that attitude.

That's exactly the problem. I know this because (sad I know) I sit here watching log files to try and isolate the problem.

Anyone noticed that there have been between 40-50 members online for most of the evening ? It's no co-incidence.

Don't worry... as I said in a (dead) thread... the club is going nowhere, and hopefully we won't be introducing any restrictive measures.... but there will be a time when our patience is exhausted and the restraint being shown (thanks chaps) will vanish.

I am not so sure the problem comes with lots of replies as this problem would be recurrent across other forums that use the same structure of the phbb coding.

What attitude. A moderator has moderator access and the problem might be with a corruption at the moderator end. This can negated by telling me no tenpole even before moderators get to a post it disappears.

threads have gone missing where there has been *no* admin access, in terms of replies or even having been read by a moderator.

the issue is unique to mud-club's forum it would appear, but mud-club is running a heavily modified phpbb installation, so that accounts for that. Now we *could* go back to an unmodified phpbb install, but then we'd lose a shed load of features.

now, I appreciate some people are just trying to be helpfull. But we have been through most of the possibilities, but some of them are harder to track down than others.

I do feel the admins pain, I once added a couple of small features to a phpbb installation and lost the lot and could not even revert to standard.
