He got stuck!
« on: March 13, 2006, 09:12:48 »
I've been away on a metal detecting dig this weekend and its the first time a few of the lads have seen my Disco since the lift and whels have been fitted.  On Friday night we were havien a goodly few beers in the beer tent.  As is true of most beer nights it involved laughter, singing and a fair amount of p*s*-taking.

One of the lads (known as Muddy Mick) was extoling the off-road abilities of his Pajero which is a completely standard vehicle shod with road tyres.  I was deriding his choice of motor, telling him that they are a "soft-roader" not an off roader.

At about 2am, suitably imbibed, he decided to drive it over one of the rough ploughed fields to prove me wrong.

He succinctly proved me right! :)  he didn't even make it onto the field, he got stuck in the first rut and then buried the motor up to the front axle, it was only the front bash-plate which stopped it digging in further.

First, I dragged him out of the field ..... then I went for a drive through it to show him how it should be done!

Hope the farmer apreciates his new feild :s

Someone was on about not giving the Antis Ammo, fair play if the farmer was ok with it but it comes over it was beer fueled screwing about.

On the othe rhand, thanks for proving what we suspected all along
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

And we all hope this clearly demonstrates the irresponsibility of driving under the influence, even on private land (with permission).  [-X

I'm sure he now knows that if the public has access to an area, that the Road Traffic Act still applies? Interestingly, even with the permission of the landowner (which I know you had), the group still count as 'the public'.

It's encouraging to hear (and see) that no attmept was made to recover the vehicle until the morning - it's good to know that everyone else decided not to go driving around after a bevvy or two. Nice one.

I also know that after the berating he got in the morning he won't be trying that game again (especially not on your time!   ) .

Thread locked - lessons learned (and thankfully before someone got hurt).

Cheers
