   Just had the latest Gas and Electric bill drop through my letterbox and boy have they rocketed up in price...yet another example of 'Rip off Britain'
How on earth the Government and Local Councils think that we can keep paying their steep price rises is beyond me.
What with all the different forms of taxes, rates and other means of taking away your hard earned wages that these bureaucrats can think of, it constantly amazes me that the people of this Country have'nt got together and said  'enough is enough and that's it'...surely,a revolution can't be far away...who wants to join me at the barricades.
Moan over....back to my corner

Someone has to pay for immigrants free accomodation etc (thats why TAX is so high). I met a south african girl about 5yrs ago, she went to the local benefits office to try to get some cash.....They signed her on then and there......within 20mins of her leaving the office she was on the phone to her brother telling him to come over to the UK as the government here give you FREE MONEY.

there is also these new wars good old Tony has got us into. The CSA screw up? The screw up to be of the family tax credit (what a nightmare that is to try and sort out, we earn well under the £50k upper limit and somehow they have worked out that we owe THEM money)

Council tax came through the door this morning.

I wont say anymore

I worked it out, his year is going to be about £400 more expensive than last yer (tax, utility bills etc)

And yet he country is still a state
The Roads are still beyond a Joke
Immigration is nothing but an afterthought
We wont mention the police, although they aparently neded 4.7% more this year to do Stuff All
My power was still out on and off for almost a week in total last period
Drainage round here and water pressure still sucks, or in the case of drainage, doesnt.

Here's a novel idea

Utilities and govt departments that underproform and constantly screw up are forced to LOWER bills or at least not raise them.

Oh and I have to pay £130 for tree maintainance in my parish this year [Edited]!?
I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

Remember there are a lot of countries where you cant say what you have all
ranted about -not unless you want to dissapear for a while, for all its bad points there are so many good points about our green and pleasent land,
go to Africa and try living without food and water for 6 months in mega high tempertures-hold your hand out and cry poverty no one is listening,
But you can at least go to social security and get a hand out -not feeling so good go to your docs or A/E -in other countries you get no help at all -YOU JUST DIE along with the other thousands, think yourself lucky to have employment , a roof over your head , etc etc -AND STOP WHINGEING!

Yep... this country isn't perfect, but we really have *no* idea what it is like to be hard up..  funnily enough we were talking about this in the office today.

Yes, we moan about tax, etc..   but maybe ask a German about income tax... or maybe ask an American about free healthcare....

The grass is always greener and all that...   people keep saying "I'm going to leave this country soon.. "     fair enough...  if you feel that strongly about it...     but I don't think you'll find many places which are the cornucopia we all would like.

Surprisingly it does exist, & apparantly on a similar standard to our NHS.

the only differance is that you have to prove that you can't afford health insurance, or be prepared to be hounded by their tame (or not so tame) Lawyers trying to recover the money from you

I guessed there was some kind of health care for the low income in America but I did not know how the system worked until you just told me. Thanks learned one.

We have a Canadian Doctor at the moment who worked in the States after qualifying.

We also had one who worked at a Hospital in London (didn't say which one) where a lot of drugs related(?)shootings & stabbings used to come, or be dumped on the forecourt from a moving car

Armed Police sometimes patrolled the corridors, as it wasn't unknown for rivals to come looking for the wounded person in order to finish what they started!
Yes, that's complete with knives, machetes, & guns.

CCTV in reception areas & doorways was linked straight to the nearest Police Armed Respose Unit control room
Nursing staff in Casualty also had photos & alias-lists of known scum-bags.....
In cases like that stuff the Data Protection Act & Patient Confidentiality

The reason nothing changes is because "All politicians p*** in the same pot", they are all bent, queer, bent, on the take, bent, child molestors, bent or any other word which they now tell us is non PC.

Its probably a fact that the only person ever to go parliament with good intentions was Guy Fawkes.

:)  :) A lot of interesting replies on this thread and some very strong feelings...I starting it because whilst I don't object to paying higher taxes and all the other forms of stealth robbery but what I do object too mostly strongly is being ripped off and fed a load of spin (lies)...having said that the next question is what are we going to do about it???
I eagerly await some constructed suggestions to this one...more to follow

Problem with great britian is when the goverment do something we dont like the whole country just gos "tut" and carrys on with there life. Even when we did the fuel blokade we stop before it had been sorted. The goverment is suposed to speack on our behalf and do what it thinks is right for the uk. But the problem is the goverment do this and we do nothing about it so the goverment think they are doing ok. As none including myself tell them what we want. At the end of the day you have a voice use it. Or at least wright to your mp and tell him what you want.

This is just my thought on the matter and other thoughts are avalible

The only parties that make the qualifying number of votes are Labour and the conservatives. Labour are more like the conservatives with their policies anyhow.
At least wales has Plaid Cymru and Scotland the SNP.
