my project is starting to near the end, and it got me thinking.
when your vehicle is scrutineered what exactly do they look for apart from the obvious like rottern chassis?

Mainly things which are obviously unsafe- usecured batteries in the engine bay, Hi-Lift Jacks & 20L diesel cans loose in the cab  etc!

What level of scrutineering?
Play day or full blown ARC competition?

Play day stuff is usually as has been said, battery secured (not being thrown about in a seat box either), track rod links and any loose items internally.
Full blown competition is a different kettle of fish altogether  :shock:

"For this event the participants should have a suitable four wheel drive car (cars can be multiple driven) less than 2.5 litres that is in a safe and usable condition as all cars will be scrutineered similar to RTV. A minimum requirement will be for steering, suspension, brakes and hand brake, seatbelts provision of suitable recovery points and security of loose items (batteries, wheel braces and jacks ex).

Cars should be presented in a clean condition for scrutineering."

my truck doesnt have a roll cage or owt, so it just RTV and play days.
but what would be involved in ARC spec.

The best thing to do would be to join your local club, or whoever you are most likely to trial with and get hold of the relevant rule book.  I think  that the ARC (now-ALRC) one is on their website.

I'm a bit out of touch with rules for trialling, especially with regards to ARC events, but essentially it is sensible stuff, safety and recovery points etc.
