They did an item on the planned increase in road tax for 'large 4x4's' early this morning. The studio were talking to another presenter in 'west London' who was standing in front of a gleaming black RR (not RR06 MUD AFAIK !). I didn't see the early part of the item (was sleeping !), but caught the last sentence:

OB - "You could sleep with this damn thing (referring to the lack of nasty emissions), if only you could get it up the stairs"

Studio - " ummmmmm..........!!"

LMFAO

Anyone know how much they intend putting the car tax up by ?

Wish I'd been more awake earlier, might have been able to answer my own question - but it was pre-7am !!!!

£200 for all cars bought after this wednesday, apparantly.  I doubt this is the case, and more than likely will apply to the upper bracket for the tax worked on engine size rather than emissions.

When Top Gear ran a poll for best vehicle, it was reported that they had over 1 Million votes for the Landy, which obviously won.

Assuming nobody voted twice (cough) thats 1 Million people of voting age, plus all the Jeep, Shogun, Suzuki etc., other 4 x 4 drivers - we can bring this Nanny State down!!!

We need to unite! All the forums, all the mags, all the clubs.

Thats the V8 idea out of the window then, must look into tuning the K Series instead!
