DESPERATE for HELP!!!!

Don't know if anyone would be willing to help me and I hate to have to ask but I'm really desperate for help to get some work done to my Disco. The MOT is due and she's not going to pass like she is.

A friend was going to help me but due to work commitments just can't find the time. I would put her in the garage, but lack of cash flow won't allow that just now. I also have the problem that I have nowhere to do the work (except on the road), only a basic tool kit and not enough mechanical knowledge to do it myself.

There is quite a bit needs doing, but I'm more than willing to do an exchange of labour, you mention it I'll do what I can (as long as it's legal!!!). I also have a Wolf steering guard that I would be willing to give in part payment, brand new with all the stickers on. Got it to put on my Defender but never got round to it, cost a fair bit and are a bit like rocking horse poo to find. Obviously, I will supply liquid refreshments!!

The parts I need fitting are:
+2" lift kit (springs, shocks, bump stops, extended brake hoses)
Rear brakes and discs
one rear wheel bearing
Front swivel is also leaking and needs looking at.
Rock sliders (could do these myself, but an extra pair of hands is always useful)

I have all the part, except anything I might need for the swivel, sitting in boxes in my hall, where they have been for the last 6 months!!

I live in Lincoln, but am more than willing to travel, within reason, if someone is willing to help me. I am working 7 days on 7 off at the moment, so will be at work now untill Sunday then off all next week.

Would really like to get everything sorted by Easter weekend. It's the wifes birthday then and would like to get out on some of our local lanes for the day.

wish i could help you mate but your a bit far away. the front swivel might be sorted with some one shot grease,. i know mine was. went to local alnd rover dealer and picked some up. emptied the ep90 and refilled with one shot. job done. only took 20 mins to do.

Same here, am too far away.

Brakes are very easy to do.  Its not complicated at all.  If you get a Haynes manual it explains it very easily!

have just got home from work and I'm off to bed now, but will get back to you in the next few days.

I think my problem is lack of confidence! :oops: I've never done such a big job on the wagon before, and when you're doing brakes they have to be spot on. I would like to do the work myself, but it would just be nice to have someone looking over my shoulder, so to speak, to give me some guidance.

Thanks very much to those that offered help. It's really great to know that there are so many friendly and unselfish people out there willing to give up their spare time to help someone out.

I did the work with the help of one of the guys from our local club and have learned a great deal. It has certainly given me the confidence to get on and do things on my own now.

Katie is booked in for MOT on tuesday, took her for a pre-MOT last weekend and only found a few minor problems, some of which we knew about. The main problem was a bit of welding that needed doing, welding I can do so it's now fixed.
