when your dsl light flashes it is connecting the modem to the phone line so you wont get a connection till has stopped flashing. If it is on a usb just unplug the usb lead for about 20 secs then plug back in. Had the same sort of thing but mine would not let me log in to the internet. So i unpluged it and pluged  it back in and it works great now. Think alot of it is down to software bugs.

Phone your supplier and see if you've just been uprated to 2MB for free. Have aseen a lot of this.

Its normally down to line problems. Having the Sync light flashng means that the connection was lost and that the modem is trying to reestablish it. If the weather is particulary bad round your neck of the woods and you have overhead lines that might be why, pick up the phone and listen for clicks and crackles.

Also make sure everything has a microfilter on and unplug any extentions you have to see if that helps.

I must confess the the activities of the UK governments for the past couple of years have been watched with frank admiration and amazement by Lord Vetinari. Outright theft as a policy had never occured to him.

If your with BT and have been upgraded to a faster connection you may need to download and install a booster for your modem. I had this problem and the booster patch fixed it ok.
