ive after a rear door chequerplate I know there has been lots of talk in the past about them.

What Im after tho is somewhere local to Cheshire area that sells them, Im really looking to collect one. Rebel 4x4 is only up the M6 in wigan, but they insist they dont allow or provide a collection service.

Is there anywhere else ? I dont fancy making my own as I dont have a suitable tool for cutting the shape out and providing a nice neat edge.

Best thing I found for cutting chequer is a jigsaw you could probably pick one up for about Ã‚Â£15 from B&Q its just a case of marking up a sheet of plate

Use your old door card for the template

And plento of metal cutting blades for the jigsaw

Got mine from Brookwells in South Devon. Local to me but not to you so pointless saying really...

As far as I can gather over the counter, it's an SPI part. LRD300 is the part number I believe.

Piece of cake to fit with a cordless drill and a handful of self tappers. Stuck a little rubber grommet between sheet and door at every screw and it doesn't even rattle.

Going to mount a camping cooker in a fold out box on it for expeditions and stuff....

I went to a local company who makes stainless steel worktops. I gave them the old trim off my rear door and asked them to make the pockets too out of tred plate.

Cost me about Ã‚Â£55 about 4 years ago.

Azimax Engeneering in Kingsthorp Northampton.

Worth a try with a local company round you if you didn't want the trip.

Brookwells do mail order and are a cracking company to deal with can definitely recommend them.
I had 5 wheels sent to the other end of the country for Ã‚Â£20.

Seems dodgy to me if a company don't allow collection in any way though.

Hi Damo it is easy honest-having said that i did it with MDF and then stuck on the chequerplate floor covering,loads of pockets,fire extinguisher and first aid kit.Used old panel as pattern.

We have a local agriculteral supplier in the village here, will have to pop in next week and see what they say.

Like the idea of getting the door pockets made up as well tho!

Glad to be of help! I've got tons and tons of websites stored in my "favourites" folder on the PC at home - takes a while to find what I'm looking for, but covers pretty much anything you could ever need for a Landy!

I'm quite keen to get one from them as well - all depends on whether I can be ars*d to try and hook up the rear door speakers to my non-LR stereo...

If thats the sub speaker in the rear door, forget it. Buy a small amp and mount a 6x9 speaker and mount instead config the amp to have a low pass cutoff and you'll have a suitable replacement ;)

Try our website, we do all chequer plate, have done rear doors and footwells (only they may not be on the site) probably cheaper than most.
