They don't just lobby local councils, they tell blatant lies too, I notice how the disabled have been roped into their evil plans, just as long as it's on their terms.  They need a good hard slap with a reality stick, selfish f*****s

But it says that some paths are not able to be used by the disabled.  But we dont use paths so it must be the walkers who are doing the damage.

and there info wrong cos if all tracks used previously by horse and cart
can be used by 4x4 then there would be a hell of a lot more BOATS
IF there were more green lanes then there would be less car useing them per mile so we should have more to use and then they would complain less

if we all join the ramblers we could out vote them and turn all tracksthat have been decomisioned back into boats how many members do you think it would take to change there policy at there board meatings

Can someone find the actual figures for ALL vehicle sales - i.e. are ALL car sales going up because MORE people are driving?

i.e. has the actual overall percentage REALLY changed?

So what if it has?  granted it makes this particular bit of propagander smell even more of horse doings, but lets face it, it's not like it isn't somewhat fragrent anyhow.

want even more reasons why we should be worried about there biast, delueded and out right dishonest bull

have a look at there websight.

http://www.ramblers.org.uk/

just found this on there
http://www.ramblers.org.uk/news/archive/2004/greenlanesopinionpoll.html

"Poll shows overwhelming public support for ban on off-roading in countryside"
I take it thats a poll of there members then.

The worst stuff by far though is on there forums.
Put in 4x4 in there sight search and have alook at some of there supposedly  friendly members posts
The bobblehats - should be more like the SS .

At least we dont want to ban every one who doesnt drive a 4x4 from the countryside but it seems the RA (right ar****les) association want to ban EVERYONE who isnt able to walk under there own power from every bit of suposedly open countryside anywhere in the UK

It's not just 4x4s they have a go at, found this on their forum in a thread about dog walkers, I think this guy is on our side
Quote

Oh yes becaue only people who enjoy walking and who are ramblers are righteous enough to have freedom in the great outdoors. Tell ya what, why not ban dogs full stop like you want to ban trail bikes and 4x4's. lets ban mountain bikes to and horses. Maybe we can ban farmers having animals and farm machinery to because these get in the way on our glorious righteous treks and walks.
Oh, god forbid someone should question ramblers because they are a law unto themselves, bloody hell, they nearly have the same powers as Labour which is funny because they want to ban everything aswell.
Perhaps we could ban smokers in the outdoors to and maybe we could ban people that dont walk in the proper way or are ot members of of the RA.
Sorry, this is not a dig at the RA, its a dig at people who think the world revolves around them, no matter what their past time or club etc. Theres room for all of us and this land belongs to all of us. Never in a month of sundays should one group think itself more entitled to the great outdoors than another.
It doesnt matter if this post offends because it well be removed anyway
Guess i better go and tell my missus that we are not welcome in the great outdoors with our dog anymore unless its muzzled, tied to a leash and sits and behaves so as not to upset a righteous rambler. Its ok though cause im getting used to not being able to do the things i like as ramblers seem to think most of other past times apart from walking and climbing are scummy and should be banned.

I wonder if they realise the work we do fighting to keep rights of way open?
Ok say they get there way and get us baned from greenlanes etc.
It doesnt take much of a leap in imagination to see the land owners etc can then start there own ban public access campaine or start off with reduce access campaine.
Theres plenty of land owners out there who already feel this way.
They are not just all anti 4x4 but anti access to anyone.
As a community the offroaders as a whole should be considered a benefit to people like the RA through works by groups such as GLASS etc etc

There will always be the irresponcible few in any group wheater its offroaders, trailbikers, hourse riders, ramblers etc who will tarnish the majorities reputation. the ramblers should stop there focus on people like us who are responcible and take an wider view of what we do and focus on the people who are causing all the damage and destruction.

its an ideal world view I know and in all honesty its never likley to happen but I would love to be proved wrong.

I know this may sound like a stupid question given the RA stance on 4x4 usage of the countryside and there rights of way but have any offroad groups ever tried to extend a hand of friendship?
Has it ever been pointed out to groups like the RA the work we do for access to the countryside after all its not just us who benefit  :?:

Right I know this is going to open a whole can of worms but I would like to ask a few questions.

As a 4x4 owner and offroader and (former) walker do the rambers association/rambling community as a whole except the work that is done by the offroading community to keep byways open?

Do the ramblers association want to ban ALLrecreational use of 4x4/trail bikes etc from the countryside or publick rights of way e.g. BOAT's (byways open to all traffic)?

Do the ramblers association/rambling community except that its not all 4x4/trail bikers who are causing the damage that is so offten associated with us, but that most damage is caused by the irresponcible minority who dont have the sence not to drive a greenlane when it may result in damage to the surface of the lane?

Do the ramblers association/rambling community except that not all recreational offroad drivers illegaly use rights of way designated as footpaths or bridleways which have no vechicular access?

slightly different issue but still in the same vein.
In a recent mail shot that was sent out by the ramblers association and I quote "the huge increase in 4x4 and other offroad vechicle ownership (some estimates say 400% in 10 years)Has lead to a deline in the condition of many byways" end quote

On what figures are the stated 400% increas in sales based?
Is this for ALL vehicle sales - i.e. are ALL car sales going up because MORE people are driving?

i.e. has the actual overall percentage REALLY changed?

And finaly Do the ramblers association/rambling community ignoledge the work of groups such as GLASS (the greelane association -www.glass-uk.org )who promote the responcible use of the countries byways?

will be intresting to see what there answers are - if any

Well, it seems contradiction is the order of the day:
b) Ramblers Association want to ban all recreational motor vehicles from the countryside ( they're ok in town)

f) Light use of byways by traffic (whether 4x4 or not) keeps them open to ramblers

It seem Brian-Mellows has no idea how ironic that is!! According to him, it's OK for any motor vehicle to drive around the countryside, as long as they are ramblers vehicles!!

Incidentally, it's well worth running any posts to their forum through the spell-check, just to prevent them from going down the 'learn to spell' route, which only allows them to detract from the topic in hand  :)

Topic closed. This thread does not relate to "Family Walking". We have not, and have no plans to host any forums which invite discussions along these lines. This is a public forum, and attracts viewpoints, not accurate information on the policy of the RA or anyone else. To make an enquiry regarding RA aims and objectives, please contact Head Office for some appropriate marketing literature.

Discuss?  No, they know they are right so they won't allow any argument.

It seems to me like they can promote mass hysteria, but listening or allowing their members to read an opposing point of view is not allowed.  So now you know how the RA think ...
