I have these allen socket plugs on my cylinder heads. I have seen numerous v8 discoveries, defenders and rangies but not one with the allen sockets. They are on both heads on every cylinder near exhaust outlet. Any idea what they are for, and why I have them on mine.

What year is the engine? My (eduacted) guess is that is for pulse-air, an emision control used either/or with EGR in some countries like the USA. Quite common to see on MGBs.

Pre catalyst model then, quite likey it's the pulse-air. Just ignore them.

they are where the air rails used to fit ive just removed mine and blocked the holes off to!
If they are not blocked off and air tight, air will be sucked in when you shut off the throttle and make your exhaust pop and bang rather like a rally car!
