Um...well 12J is a Land Rover engine ..so 15J is not that odd. I guess it's the Turbo version of the N/A 12J?

Could it be out of a LDV van?
Or a BMC one?

The turbo engine is a 19 J, have a look in a haynes manual i think it shows the different engines available but i'm not sure weather it tells you what thier specs are.

I have had a bit of a dig and i 'think' the 14/15j is the Sherpa version of the 2.5 n/a but don't quote me.......

the naturally asthmatic was fitted to all sorts of vehicles, not just the land rover, as mentioned above the frieght rover set of vehicles also had them, as did the london taxis amongst others.

from what I recall, the sherka (i.e. freight rover) engine was ever so slightly different, so would have a different model number.
