Paint on galvanised steel
« on: April 12, 2006, 12:00:07 »
Do I need to prime the galvanised steel first, or would something like hammerite go straight on ?

If I need to prime first, what's the best thing to use ?

Thanks,

Jim

hammerite make a 'special metal primer' for priming aluminium and galvanised surfaces.

Etch primer, is an acid ( i think) primer which etches into the surface to priovide key for the paint to stick to.

The last time I bought special metal primer was from Halfrauds but I've not seen it in there since then.

Most DIY stores sell HAMMERITE special metals primer.
