Tyres with a 2" lift
« on: April 12, 2006, 17:20:18 »
Currently have standard 205 R16 on standard steel rims with a 2" list on a disco 1 but I have always thought the sheels look too small for it.  Any suggestions for a bigger tyre size for it ? I am not too fussed about chopping a little from the arches etc.

Thanks

235/85x16,s will fit as will 265/75x16 but the trouble you have with 265,s is with steel disco wheels there is not much offset so they can foul the front turrets and reduce your steering lock quite a lot but they will fit up in the arches with minimal trimming at the rear of the rear arches

Just airsawed the lower rears to clear and rolled the folded back lips up under the arches. Fitted extended bump stops and jobs a good'un.

Didn't need to adjust the steering stops with the offset on the mods so I can still swing round my drive which is quite tight and on a pretty steep slope.

Only issue is tyre noise .  . . . but I can live with that

235 / 85 R 16  Trxus M/T on NATO steel wheels.  Sorry about the quality  :?

2" lift, had to trim back just a little from the rear of the rear wheel opening.  Front was no trouble.

Plenty of us run 235/85/r16 with no trouble other than having to adjust the steering lock-stops for the MOT.  Best thing is they don't look out of place once the car is lifted.
