Wish I read this saturday, need to buy a new washer tomorrow its now dripping on the side of the road. Is there an easy way of filling the gearbox? Ended up removing the front prop!Transfer box had a splash of water and a tiny drop of black treacle. No oil  That'll explain that strange noise. Now gone

Just re-read your post, made more sense the secongd time :? I always spill oil doing the 'box too, try topping up a 1 litre bottle to about 2/3 full and don't try to empty the whole thing into the 'box. Otherwise yo need a lift pump, they are available, at a price. Might treat myself though.

Thats pretty much how I filled the box but with the prop removed. Took about a 1/3 of a bottle each time
